Guitar Hero World Tour. I was very exciting about this game from day 1. Well, I must admit this might be a little biased, since I am a Guitar Hero fanboy. But I will try my best.
First, the new instruments:
GHWT features 3 new instruments, guitar (of course) bass (gameplay, not actually new instrument) drums, and mic (vocals).
The Drums:
The most exciting new instrument, my opinion of course. Well, I will just say this now, Drums did not live up to my excitement. When I got it, I played the drums first, they were good at first. About third song, I noticed that my green pad wasn’t registering well. Maybe like 30% of the time. Then my red started to go out. I went on guitar hero forums to report my problems and found about the whole first page with topics like, “omfg, rb pwns, my red pad sux”. So yes, everyone was having some problems, and I am yet to find someone with a perfect kit. Thankfully, Red Octane release a drum tuner to change the sensitivity of the drums.

Drums overall are bad, imo. But they are fun to play around with.
The Guitar:
Great, I love it. Well this guitar is a little bigger than the Les Paul. The strum bar is bigger, the whammy is. Well yea, It is bigger. Hehe. The new feature to guitar, is the touch sensitive bar thing. haha. You slide your finger up and down on certain parts in the game. You can also distort (you could say) long notes.
The Mic (vocals):
Not much to say here, it is pretty much the same mic as rock band. Singing is a little harder than rock band. Sometimes it does get confusing or awkward with a ball instead of a arrow. But vocals are fun (embarrassing).
Bass (gameplay):
Same as anyother music game. Except it adds a Open E string to it. You just strum without holding any notes. I like it. It is very fun on songs like B.Y.O.B. (;
Music Studio:
Fun as heck to mess around in, to record and make a “good” song, not so good. It is a lot harder, confusing, and frustrating than most of you (and me) thought. What else is not good about it. You can’t record vocals. But w/e. They have to stay away from copyright shit. Anyways, it isn’t great, but is ok.
Career:
You don’t just go down the setlist like in gh3. You play a series of gigs in different cities and venues. I prefer the going down the setlist better. But that is just me.
Create A Rocker:
It is alright, fun to play around in. But I can’t create a rocker that looks like me. But I could in some of the Tony Hawks. They could of built on from it, spent a little more time on it.
Setlist:
I like it. I think they went more classic rock than anything. Which is ok to me. And singing Beat It is fun as shit (if shit is fun). Good Choice!
The New Timing Window:
It’s like Aerosmith, I got used to it pretty fast. But the purple HO and PO (slider bar thing) timing window always finds a way to fuck up all your FC’s. Just warning you. Sometimes I can do them, sometimes I can’t. By the way, this is with out the slide bar. I don’t like the slide bar because it’s to hard to switch positioning of hands. You will miss a note.
Difficulty:
It is easier than GH3. But it kinda evens it self out with the timing window. The drums, timing window is to big, to easy. Well most would say that. But some songs just rape you to death. Vocals, are harder than rock band. I would say.
Character:
A lot return from GH3. Heil Judy! With some new guest (I guess). Like, Ozzy Osbourne, that girl from paramore. Ha! And some more.
Overall:
Well, the drums aren’t what I expected, the guitar is great, and vocals are great. The gameplay is great. Some features could be better. To compare to Rock Band. I would say equal. I would say it was rushed. I mean, you can always delay games. I wouldn’t mind, if it made the game better.
Final Score:
8.5/10
I mean it is Guitar Hero. The name lives on.
